Congratulations on finding The One! Now it’s time to find The Ring. Finding the perfect ring to express your love can be a daunting task but it doesn’t have to be. Here are some things to consider when shopping for an engagement ring.

It’s no longer considered necessary to spend three month’s salary on the ring, but you should know your preferred price point. Keep ring maintenance and insurance in mind while budgeting. And remember, the ring you buy now needn’t be their forever ring. Many people opt for an affordable starter ring and then upgrade later on to reflect their growing relationship – and income.

When shopping for a ring, it’s important to understand your ring’s value. The best way to do this is to become familiar with the 4Cs – Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat. It’s also notable that certain diamond shapes, such as round, are more expensive than the more common shapes. Metal choice also affects price range, with 10K being least expensive, 14K being a little pricier, and platinum being most expensive.

Does your significant other prefer a branded engagement ring? If so, consider prominent designers and brands such as Neil Lane, Adrianna Papell, or The Leo Diamond. Find out what style of ring your love likes best too. Are they set on a traditional diamond or would they prefer an affordable alternative featuring gemstones, colored diamonds or lab-created diamonds
