Marquise Shaped Diamonds
What is a Marquise-Cut Diamond?
Said to be named for a famous beauty at the French court in the 18th Century, the marquise cut diamond is known by the French name navette, which means "little boat." Like the pear cut, marquise-cut diamonds belong to the fancy shaped diamond group. Marquise diamonds also have the same cut as a round brilliant (58 facets) just stretched vertically with a sharp point at the bottom and the top (like a boat!).
Buying a Marquise-cut Engagement Ring?
Marquise diamond engagement rings look best as a solitaire-styled engagement ring. The simplicity of a marquise diamond is a great look for her if she tends to be a minimalist. Marquise diamond engagement rings also look great with a halo around the center stone for a vintage feel.
