Appraisals

We offer appraisal services at all of our locations, so you can quickly and easily find out the estimated retail replacement value of your jewelry and get documentation in order to obtain insurance coverage. Having your jewelry appraised correctly and accurately is important for both you and your insurance company so that if your jewelry is lost, stolen or damaged it can be used by the insurance company to quote the replacement and to replace it with like kind and quality.

What To Expect During an Appraisal at KAY:

• Your jewelry will be cleaned and inspected upon arrival. We will then securely send to our dedicated appraisal center.
• A certified appraiser will inspect your jewelry, diamonds and gemstones.
• Bring documentation such as sales slips, diamond or gemstone grading reports if you have them.
• At the end of the appraisal process, you will receive a detailed report, with pictures and diagrams, and an estimated retail replacement value statement for your jewelry that you can use for insurance purposes.

The Appraisal Will Take Into Account:

• Current competitive retail prices.
• Brand names, serial numbers, identifying manufacturer's marks on diamonds.
• The karatage for gold; the stamping of the percentage on platinum.
• The metal of prongs and mountings.
• For diamonds and gemstones, the appraiser will evaluate the 4Cs (cut, color, clarity and carat weight).
• Any documentation that you have provided.
