What to Wear to a Winter Wedding

The landscape of a winter wedding makes it feel regal and elegant like a fairy tale. This kind of setting offers a lot of outfit inspiration, but cold temperatures can feel limiting. Instead of fighting the weather, let it guide and inspire your wedding guest look.

One of the benefits of a winter wedding is that the ceremony and reception will most likely be held indoors. This creates an opportunity for some gorgeous layers. Start with a dress in a deep jewel tone, like ruby red, emerald or jade green, or sapphire blue. Snow-inspired colors like steel blue or light gray are also great choices – just remember to avoid white! Next, you can add a wrap or shawl over your evening gown – think faux fur or a luxurious knit. If that’s not your style, a chic blazer or cardigan will also work. It’s always important to keep the wedding theme and location in mind so you aren’t over- or under-dressed.

What jewelry should you pair with this look? Here are a few ideas:

• Standout Earrings: If your outfit is classic and formal, go for a pair of drop or chandelier earrings with diamonds or lab-created white sapphires. Sapphires, emeralds, and rubies will make for gorgeous accent stones. A pair of bold hoops is another great option, and white gold is especially fitting for a winter event.

• Delicate Rings: A chunky cocktail ring doesn’t really fit underneath winter gloves, so opt for simple bands instead. You can create a more streamlined statement piece by stacking multiple bands on one finger. Look for metals like white gold or sterling silver as a base, and mix in yellow and rose gold for a little extra color.

• A Statement Necklace: A statement necklace can come in many forms. It can be a bib necklace with gemstones or geometric shapes, a sleek lariat necklace, or a group of layered necklaces. Shimmering styles with diamonds or lab-created white sapphires capture winter elegance, while gemstones add deep color. With these ideas in mind, you’ll be ready for any winter wedding!
