History of Watches
Timekeeping has a long history, dating back to ancient times. We've come a long way from the sundial, into an age where watch designs are evolving each day.

From the design of the pocket watch (invented in the 1500's), Patek Phillippe & Co. began crafting what would become the very first wristwatch in the late 1800s. Initially, women wore wristwatches more than men. Watches also became popular gifts to celebrate a child's entrance to adulthood and were often passed through generations as treasured family heirlooms.

In 1914, as soldiers were getting ready for World War I, they were issued wristwatches. These watches proved to be more mobile and less expensive than pocket watches. They were also an important part of strategy. American soldiers used their watches to synchronize the timing of their attacks and battles. Once the war was over, soldiers continued to wear wristwatches and society quickly followed.

Over the years, timepiece technology has evolved from the simple (alarms and chronographs) to the once unimaginable (television, radio and cell phone watches). Today, you can choose from a number of unique designs to fit your lifestyle perfectly.
