Color Stone Enhancements
In addition to gemstone cutting, over the centuries we have developed countless other methods to improve upon the natural properties of gemstones and pearls. These techniques are known as enhancements. They derive from our desire to draw from nature's bounty the truest and purest color and brilliance.
To bring out the beauty of natural gemstones, we may treat or enhance them by heating (generally) or oiling (emeralds) or diffusion (sapphires, rubies and blue topaz). Treated emeralds require special care in cleaning and repair. It is our policy not to sell or trade in gemstones that have been treated with vapor deposition enhancements. All of our policies follow standards set by the jewelry industry.
