I bought this watch a year ago for my younger brother when he graduated from the University of Pittsburgh. He was going into accounting, and I wanted to buy him something that he would be able to wear from work to play. A year later and he still wears it all of the time. In fact, it never fails when we're out on a Friday night that someone has a compliment for his timepiece. In fact, his boss liked it so much that he bought himself one for Christmas this past year. If you're looking for something bold and functional that you can "set and forget" (perpetual calendar feature is fantastic), then this is a great piece, especially for the price.

What is the difference between a quartz movement and a self-winding movement?

Watches and fine timepieces are powered by one of two sources: self-winding automatic mechanical movements or by a small battery (quartz).
