Bring your diamond jewelry in to your local Kay store, and find your new diamond from our extensive collection. Bring in your diamond jewelry purchased in-store or online to any Kay Jewelers location for a consultation. Only diamonds, not color gemstones, can be traded in. And up!
Diamond Trade-in and Upgrade
What Diamond Jewelry Qualifies for an Upgrade?
Our diamond trade-in and upgrade services only apply to diamond jewelry - the trade-in and newly selected jewelry must feature diamonds to qualify. For example, you can trade a diamond ring for a new diamond ring, diamond bracelet or any other new diamond jewelry you choose.
You can trade in men's and women's jewelry. For example, a men's diamond bracelet can be traded for a pair of women's solitaire earrings or the other way around. To be eligible for the upgrade, your new piece must be priced at least double the purchase price of your original jewelry. For example, if your original earrings were purchased at Kay for $500, your new ring must be priced at $1,000 or more.
If your jewelry was purchased at Kay, our experts will be able to offer you the full value of the original purchase price (excluding charges like taxes and shipping). If your jewelry was purchased somewhere else, the value of your trade-in jewelry is determined by a diamond grading test evaluating the size and quality of the diamonds. Store credit cannot be issued for a trade-in, so your new jewelry must be selected at the time of the upgrade.
Diamond Upgrades: What's Excluded?
Because upgrades apply exclusively to diamond jewelry, pieces that only feature pearls, emeralds, sapphires, or any other gemstones are not eligible for trade-in. For this same reason, your trade-in cannot be used to purchase new gemstone jewelry. Diamonds that are chipped, cracked or have been damaged are not eligible for upgrade.
